Port Blair, Jan 19: Two days Seminar on “The Changing Socio- economic situation of Vulnerable Ethnic Communities in South & Middle -North Andaman ”. Was held by Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College, Mayabunder in Academic collaboration with Anthropological Survey of India, A & N Regional Centre, Port Blair on 16-17, January , 2024 . Dr.Ningombam Somorjit Singh, Head of Office An. Survey of India, Port Blair was Chief Guest on this occasion. Dr. B Prabhuram , Principal, MGG College, Mayabunder welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries . Principal highlighted the academic activities and co-curricular activities being conducted by the college from time to time. The seminar was attended by representatives from Karen & Chotanagpuri Communities. The eminent scholars, researchers and academicians were presented 12 papers in two technical sessions on the first day . Five Papers were presented on Karen community and two papers on Bhantus , one paper on Burmese and five papers on Chotanagpur Community .The Prominent paper presenters are , Dr. Pronob Sirkar , Mr. Basudev Dass , Mr. Ram Kumar Singh , Dr. K Rajmohan , Dr. P K Mondal , Ms. Sabatini Chatterjee, Mr. Rahul Ranjan, Smt. Bimla Toppo, Mr. Venkatesh Kr Singh , Dr. S K Biswas and Mr.Gitu Yaikhom. Dr. Swapan Kumar Biswas, Associate Professor, Political Science, MGG College was the convener of the seminar. Seminar was coordinated by Mrs. Bimla Toppo , Faculty of Hindi and concluding remarks and vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Bidhu Bhusan Mondal , Assistant Professor, English. On the second day the officials visited the villages and interacted with community people .
