Port Blair, Jan 17: Solar power is seen as the most successful & reliable source of power to make any building self-energy sufficient. Grid connected Rooftop Solar plant has solar panels installed on the available roof space/ area and interconnection is made with the electric line through a net metering arrangement. The generated solar power is utilized in the premises and excess, if any, is fed to the electric grid. The billing for Electric charges would be done only for the net consumption of energy units i.e. (Imported power from Electric grid) – (Exported power from Rooftop Power Plant).
In this regard, under the proposed action plan, capacity of 60 MW RTS plant is envisaged for implementation in two phases (30 MW each) to be completed by year 2026. The provision of CAPEX/RESCO mode is given as under-

To sensitize the consumers, Electricity Department shall organize camps at respective wards/Panchayat as per the schedule given under for obtaining details of residential building in the prescribed format along with the consent of building owner for installation of Rooftop solar in RESCO mode for achieving an aggregate capacity of 30 MW in residential sector under Phase –I.
