Diglipur, Dec. 31: Paying homage to Netaji Shubhash Chandra Bose and to commemorate the 80th anniversary of hoisting of Tricolour by Netaji in Port Blair on this day in 1943, the National Flag was hoisted by Mr. PR Singa Ram, Pradhan, Subhashgram, Diglipur yesterday at about 09:00 am in front of the Statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in the Children park here yesterday.
The flag hoisting was followed by the National Anthem. Netaji’s Statue was then garlanded by the Pradhan and veterans like Mr. M.L. Das & Mr. Gouranga Biswas while other dignitaries gave floral tribute to this great freedom fighter. Mr. M.L. Das & Mr. PR Singa Ram delivered speeches which were followed by sweet distribution.
Thiruvalluvar Youth Club, Diglipur took active participation in the event.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose hoisted the National Flag in Port Blair as the Supreme Commander of Azad Hind Fauz and declared these islands free from British Rule.
The event was jointly organized by Tamizhar Sangam Committee, Thiruvalluvar Youth Club, Diglipur in association with Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Committee & Rabi Tirtha Club, Diglipur.
