Port Blair, Dec 13: The ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker has written a letter to the Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, A&N Islands highlighting him about the non-availability of life guards in the swimming pool at Netaji Stadium.
In the letter Mr. Bhasker stated that the swimming pool in the Netaji Stadium is unmanned by a life guard which is mandatory and due to this there is the risk of people drowning.
He also mentioned an incident which happened on the 01st of December, 2023 where a boy of around 22 years had come to the swimming pool for practicing for the MTS exam’s swimming test. However, due to not having the knowledge of swimming he had almost drowned and the co-swimmers had to save his life.
“We have come to know that many people have been saved by the co-swimmers. This is totally unacceptable and needs your immediate attention so that a life guard is posted immediately”, concluded Mr. Bhasker.
