Port Blair, Nov 14: Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Union, Teylerabad celebrating the 70th All India Cooperative Week from 14 – 20th November 2023 under the overall supervision and guidance of Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, MP & Chairman, ANSCU.
The programme was started with the hoisting of the Cooperative Flag by the Chief Guest Mrs. Nandini Paliwal IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Coop.). She inaugurated the programme by offering flowers to Nehru and lightening of lamps. In her inaugural speech the Chief Guest highlighted that Govt. India has created a new ministry for cooperatives and is giving more importance to improving the activities of Cooperatives.
She further urged that all the PACS, primary Cooperative Societies, should approach the RCS with clear plans, schemes and problem faced by them and the same will be discussed in administrative level for development of the cooperatives in true spirit, if something has to be discussed in ministry level, that too will be taken care by the administration.
The chief guest also mentioned that the cooperatives are supported by the Govt. and not run by the government but to make successful cooperatives, it is the responsibility of all the members of cooperatives. She further emphasized that the government of India has launched a number of subsidy schemes for Fisheries, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, SHGs and Rural Development through cooperatives, where much has been achieved and many more activities have to be done through cooperatives. She also mentioned that feedback of weeklong activities has to be recorded for the improvement of the Cooperatives.
In the programme Smti Archana Singh, General Manager, NABARD, as a special guest said that Coop. Dept. has supported NABARD for various activities, which encouraged them to do more for the rural people and cooperatives of this Island. She highlighted the problem faced by the PACS and Cooperative Societies are to be addressed suitably for improvement of the activities of cooperatives as many PACS are running their office either at their own house or rented premises.
She has also mentioned about the successful cooperative societies of Andhra Pradesh and requested the Coop Dept. to arrange for a 01 day workshop for the improvement of the PACS and Primary Coops. Mr. Abdul Rasheed ARCS, on the topic “Recent Development on Cooperatives’ ‘ and also highlighted the weeklong co-op programmes. He urged the gathering to act for the improvement of their societies with the involvement of their respective members. Feedback on the issues was received from the representatives of PACS and Primary Cooperatives.
The programme was attended by a large gathering including the Vice Chairman, Board of Directors of ANSCU, villagers, SHG members, and members of Cooperative Societies, ANSC Bank and staff of Cooperative Dept.
In the beginning a welcome address was delivered by Dr. Nagesh Ram, Principal RGCTC and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Anant Rao Vice Chairman ANSCU, Teylerabad.
