Port Blair, Nov 13: As part of the Children’s Day celebrations, Vikash Academy in collaboration with South Andaman District Chess Association (SADCA) under the aegis of Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) organised a chess tournament for children today (11.11.2023) at Vikash Academy, Lotus Colony, Garacharama. South Andaman.
Shri. Abani Kumar Dakuya, retd. S.I. Andaman & Nicobar Police, did the honours and inaugurated the tournament in the presence of ANCA officials, organisers, parents and players with a ceremonial first move on the top board.
Numerous children took part in the tournament, which was held in two different categories, namely advanced and beginner. Shravani from St. Mary’s School Bathubasti emerged as the winner in the intermediate category and remained unbeaten in the tournament, while M. Manish from GDMS and Benzeen Badsha from Saraswati Shishu Mandir came second and third respectively.
In the beginners’ category, M Natish Kumar from GSSS Bathubasti secured the first place, while Arshiya and Anant Toppo from St. Mary’s School Bathu Basti came second and Anchal from St. Mary’s School came third.
The winners will be felicitated on 14.11.2023 during the Children’s Day Celebration 2023 at Vikash Academy, Garacharama.
