Port Blair, Jan 28:The GEF Open Chess Tournament was inaugurated by Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Patron of Government Employees Federation by lighting the lamp at 2:30 pm in the premises of Hotel TSG Emerald View, Phoenix Bay on 25/01/2013 in the presence of Mr. G. Bhasker President ANCA, Mr. P. Kannan, President, Govt. Employees Federation, Mr. K Ganeshan, Advisor ,GEF, Office Bearers of GEF and all affiliated association members.
A large number of participants which also included Tribes of Andaman and Nicobar Islands participated in the tournament. While addressing the gathering Mr. S.K Majumdar., General Secretary, GEF said that it is the first Open Chess Championship Rolling Trophy and we shall continue this tournament every year for motivating the youth.
Mr. G Bhasker, Vice President , All India Chess Federation said that this is the first time in the history of Andaman and Nicobar Islands that Chess Rolling Trophy has been Introduced and congratulated the Government Employees Federation for it.
The Chief Guest Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma also congratulated the office bearers of The Govt. Employees Federation for organizing the event and has requested them to organize more such events in future for the benefit of the general public, a communication from the Govt. Employees Federation said.
