Port Blair, Jan 21: The President of Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma along with a delegation of PRI members and residents of Sholbay met the PCCF Dr Shashi Kumar and told him that to go to Sholbay, one has to cross Forest area which has no proper road.
“During monsoon, the forest area’s kutcha muddy path becomes so dangerous that the school going children, tiny tots, elderly and ailing persons including women hesitate to use the road. Students want to remain in their houses instead of going to their schools by crossing this road,” Mr. Sharma said.
Hence Mr. Sharma requested Dr Kumar to allow handing over those dinghies to the Panchayat of Sholbay, which were caught (seized) by the department under various clauses so that the problem of crossing the forest road ends and people may use these dinghies as a means of their transportation.
By this way both, Panchayat and the Forest Department may earn some revenue. Dr Kumar reportedly gave a patient hearing and assured to look into request.
