Port Blair, Oct 04: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Mr. Rangalal Halder has requested the LG, A & N Islands to Initiate Regular Boat Services between Port Blair and Inter-Islands(North & Middle Andaman).
In a letter addressed to the Lieutenant Governor, A & N Islands, Mr. Halder has highlighted a matter of great importance concerning the transportation infrastructure in the North and Middle Andaman region of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
He stated that due to the deplorable condition of NH-4 for an extended period, the movement of people has posed a significant risk towards their safety. The frequent landslides, flooding, and other road hazards have made travel on this route unreliable and perilous, particularly during the monsoon season.
In such circumstances, the lack of dependable transportation alternatives is a matter of grave concern. Medical emergencies, in particular, require swift and efficient transportation options, ‘he added’.
In addition, Mr. Halder said that the initiation of regular boat services between Port Blair and the inter-islands have the potential to offer a safe and reliable mode of transportation that is less susceptible to the adverse weather conditions that frequently affect NH-4.
He has further requested to expedite the process of introducing regular boat services between Port Blair and the inter-islands to alleviate the challenges faced by the residents and visitors to the region and foster its growth and prosperity.
