Port Blair, Oct 03: The 36th National under 11 Chess Championship 2023 is underway at Rajeev Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
More than 500 players from across India are participating in this prestigious Championship in which four boys and three girls from Andaman & Nicobar Islands viz J S Virat, M Tanish, P Vijay Siva Sai of VKV Lambaline and Krishay of NCS Port Blair are participating in under 11 open categories. Similarly, in girl’s sections S Sarisha of KV 1, D Charvi of VKV Lamabaline and Parnita of Carmal School are taking part.
The event will be held for seven days from 1st to 7th October 2023 over 11 eleven rounds in classical format with a time control of 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move. The total prize money of the championship is rupees eight lakhs which will be awarded among top twenty players in each category.
