
Port Blair, September 21: Gandhi Global Family Andaman and Nicobar Islands and, a renowned name in the realm of Dr. Rohinder Lall eye care, A team consisting of GGF-A&N Islands chapter, Dr. Rohinder Lall, MD, AIIMS (New Delhi) Patron GGF, Mrs. Anuradhan Lall, President GGF, Mrs. Mahwash Jadwet, General Secretary, on the occasion of month-long celebration of Gandhi Jayanti from Sept 5th to Oct 2nd 2023, took a step towards holistic and accessible health care by organizing a free eye check-up camp at UT of Jammu & Kashmir supported by Mr. Manoj Sinha Lt. Governor, Jammu & Kashmir under the leadership of Padma Shree, Mr. S.P. Verma, President GGF, J&K.
For over several decades, Dr. Rohinder Lall Eye Hospital has been at the forefront of providing solutions for various eye ailments, and has successfully treated Thousands of individuals and around 45 ophthalmology surgical eye camp and many eye camp were conducted around Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This initiative taken by Mrs. Anuradha Lall who decided to extending accessible eye care to organized camp to the local populace in border area of India and most remote place were identified.
Speaking to the media at a press meet at Port Blair, Dr. Rohinder Lall said that the trip to the UT of Jammu & Kashmir was very fruitful and Our mission has always been rooted in the belief that every individual, regardless of their background, deserves the gift of clear vision and a brighter future.
“It’s our privilege to play a distinctive role in this journey toward better eye health for all and During the free eye camp, Hundreds of patients participated and availed the benefit of the camp,” he added.
The free-eye camp also received support from private NGOs and dedicated volunteers and higher officials of UT of Jammu & Kashmir. The camp was inaugurated by Lt. General (Retd) Mr. Rakesh Sharma at Nagrota, Jammu on 11th September 2023. The camp was held on the second day i.e. on 12th September 2023 at Tawi Islands, Jammu which was inaugurated by the District Development Chairman. On the third day, the camp was held at Hydarpura on 14th September 2023, and was inaugurated by Smti. Reshmi Singh, Commissioner, Income Tax, J&K Govt who was earlier posted in ANI UT Administration while the camp was held on the fourth-day at Charar-e-Sharif, Srinagar and was inaugurated by Smt.Mehjabeen Bhat, President, GGF, Srinagar.
More than 800 patients, including school children were examined by Dr. RohinderLall who conducted thorough eye examinations and diagnosis by applying extensive knowledge and experience and offered consultations, eye tests, and distribution of eye medications to experience for all the individuals and raising a sense of awareness lacking about eye care.
A Jammu GGF, A&N Islands team felicitated eminent Cardiologist, Dr. Sushil Sharma for his selfless services. At Srinagar GGF team paid a visit to Lt. Governor, Mr. Manoj Sinha at his residence at Raj Bhavan and also presented a map of A&N Islands as memento.
