Port Blair, Sept 08: In a tragic incident yesterday a 34-year-old member of the Great Andamanese, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG), took his own life. Identified as Mr. Tasmeer, popularly known by his alias “Bulli”, was discovered by a neighbour hanging in his bedroom at his Mazar Pahad residence around 8:00 AM.
Mr. Tasmeer, originally hailing from the Strait Islands, was currently residing in Mazar Pahad and served as a constable in the Andaman and Nicobar police force, stationed at PS Chatham. Upon discovery, the local Aberdeen police unit was alerted immediately. Following their initial procedures, the police shifted the deceased’s body to GB Pant Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Sources close to Mr. Tasmeer revealed that he had been grappling with depression. The Aberdeen police are currently investigating the circumstances leading up to the unfortunate incident, and further details are awaited.
