Diglipur, Sept 05: In a bid to provide better health services to the people, especially to pregnant women of North Andaman, the District Administration, N & M Andaman is in its constant effort to deliver on high risk pregnancy management and see that people get the services in optimal level and their sufferings are alleviated to the extent possible.
Acting upon this line, a special monthly antenatal clinic was conducted at CHC Diglipur on 2nd Sept. 2023 by Dr Ashu, Gynaecologist attached to Dr. RP Hospital, Mayabunder, who had visited CHC Diglipur on Saturday this month, a source said. She examined pregnant women at CHC Diglipur and among those ANC, 3 cases of high risk pregnancy were identified and all of them were referred for caesarean delivery at a higher centre. One case was G4P3L2 with 40 weeks 4 days POG with oligohydramnios with non progress of labour, second case was G5P2L1A3 with 38 weeks POG with bad obstetric history with Deflexed head in labour while the third case was PRIMI with 38 weeks POG with moderate CPD in labour and all needed further management by a gynaecologist.
However, due to torrential rain and inclement weather conditions, these three pregnant women of high risk pregnancy requiring immediate management by a gynaecologist could not be referred to GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair by helicopter. Opting for the second option, later on all were escorted to Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder by Dr. Siddaraju CMO, Diglipur where a team comprising of Dr Ashu, Gynaecologist attached to RPH MB, Dr. Arnold Anesthetist, assisted by Dr. Siddaraju CMO and Mrs. Sheeja Rani Nursing Officer attached to CHC Diglipur was constituted and 3 caesarean deliveries were done by the team Dr. R.P.
