Port Blair, September 5: Yet another incident of electrocution of an electricity department employee has been reported on the morning at approximately 7 AM, raising serious concerns about the safety of workers involved in line clearing activities. The incident unfolded at PHC Chouldary, where a man suffered an electric shock while engaged in line clearing work on a tower pole.
The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Mr. Krishna Pada Mandal, an experienced electrician employed by the Electricity Department. Mandal was actively involved in the Electricity Pole Clearing work at Coffee Bagicha, tending to various working sites. While he was working on a light tower, he encountered an electric shock that resulted in his fall. Miraculously, Mandal managed to regain his composure and find refuge on a nearby ladder.
Following the incident, Mandal was swiftly attended to by his fellow staff members and promptly transported to PHC Chouldary for medical attention. A thorough examination was conducted by medical professionals, revealing several internal injuries that required specialized treatment beyond the facilities available at PHC Chouldary. As a result, Mandal was referred to GB Pant Hospital for further medical care.
