Port Blair, Jan 15: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has sanctioned ex-gratia relief of two lakh rupees from LG’s Relief Fund to the next-of-kin of two deceased persons, who were drowned in a pond at Dugnabad on 14th January 2013. One lakh rupees has been sanctioned to the family of Late K. Mohan Rao, aged 15 years, R/o Dairy Farm Village and one lakh rupees to the family of Late Minna Rao, aged 40 years, R/o Dugnabad.
The deceased Minna Rao was a fishermen and fishing was the only source of his income. The other deceased person, Mohan Rao was the resident of Dairy Farm and was studying in 7th standard at Govt. Middle School, Dugnabad and his father Mr. K. Madhav Rao is a fishermen and do not have any permanent source of income.
On the day of the unfortunate accident, Mohan Rao visited his uncle Minna Rao’s house at Dugnabad to celebrate the Pongal festival. Both the deceased persons were drowned when they went to have bath in a pond at Dugnabad.
