Port Blair, August 28: The written test for selection of nearly 550 LGC (Lower Grade Clerk) was conducted in November 2022, but the entire process has left selected candidates in a state of limbo as they continue to wait for their appointment orders. Despite the results being declared on February 08, 2023, and the candidate names announced by the end of May, the administration is yet to release the long-awaited appointment orders.
The lack of official communication has plunged these candidates into a state of anxiety and uncertainty. The prolonged delay has prevented them from seeking alternative employment options, as they hold on to the hope of a government job. Family members of the selected candidates share their concerns, amplifying the collective apprehension.
Andaman Sheekha Daily reached out to Mr. C. Arvind, DANICS Secretary (Personal), who informed that the process of posting and document verification is underway. Some candidates who were initially chosen did not fulfil the required qualification criteria, leading to a number of vacancies. Approximately 29 candidates have not joined. He informed that an additional 10 percent of the total posts will be placed on the waiting list, valid for a year.
The Secretary (Personal) said that the administration aims to release both the appointment orders and the waiting list by the end of September. In an effort to enhance transparency in the recruitment process, the upcoming examination will feature an online application system.
This system will enable candidates to review their answer sheets, file claims, and raise objections, fostering a more transparent and accountable recruitment process. The software development for this purpose is in its final stages and will be operational within a week.
