
Port Blair, Aug 14: Under the esteemed guidance of LG, A&NI, Admiral D K JOSHI, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), a team of women officers of Andaman & Nicobar Police comprising of Mrs.. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, SP (APU), Ms. Yogita Sharma, Dy SP/AP, Sub-Inspector Satywati, and Head Constable Anjana Mondal, under the leadership of Mrs.. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, DIGP (L&O), paid a poignant tribute to the valor of soldiers on Tarapore Dweep. This tribute took place as a part of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign under “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” initiative.
LG, A&NI, Admiral D K JOSHI, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), has directed that police teams be sent to all the 21 islands named after Param Vir Chakra awardees recently by Prime Minister of India. The homage paid to the martyrs at Tarapore Island by the all women team is a part of the same initiative. Teams of A&N Police have also travelled to several other islands named after Param Vir Chakra awardees and teams will be sent to the remaining ones soon.
The event, held on 14th August 2023, included the hoisting of the National flag, lighting of diyas, and the collection of soil from this island, named after Lt Col Ardeshir Burzorji Tarapore, a distinguished Param Vir Chakra Awardee. Tarapore Dweep, one of the 21 newly named A&N Islands recently recognized by the Prime Minister of India, stands as a poignant symbol of sacrifice and patriotism. This gesture serves as a powerful reminder of the dedication and courage displayed by the armed forces in safeguarding our nation.
