The collapse of the Panighat Jetty, while not resulting in any serious injuries, has stirred serious concerns among the islanders. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential risks associated with inadequate safety measures.
“We were fortunate this time that the Panighat Jetty collapse did not result in any major casualties, but relying solely on luck for safety is not an option,” remarked a concerned resident.
Amidst these calls, residents are urging the Administration to establish a high-level team of experts to conduct a comprehensive safety audit of all the old jetties across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
