Port Blair, Jan 10: Nearly a year ago three labourers had died when tonnes of steel road fell on them from an overloaded truck. The labourers, who were crushed to death, were sitting on the top of the overloaded truck. The accident had occurred at old Library Junction, near Model School.
But it seems that neither private business owners nor traffic department has learnt anything from the past mistakes. Overloaded trucks continue to rule Andaman Roads and make mockery of law of this land. These trucks not only compromises with the safety of labourers but also with the safety of other road users. Hope the Traffic Department will start a special campaign against such illegal business practices and nail the offenders, who are risking lives of innocent people.
