Port Blair, Aug 03: In a letter addressed to the Directorate of Education, A & N Administration, the ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder raises strong objections regarding the recent notification published dated 11th July, 2023 for 160 posts of Graduate Trained Teacher in the Directorate of Education department at Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
He stated that out of 160 posts, 84 posts are given to candidates from the unreserved category, 60 posts for Other Backward Class Category and 16 posts for Economically Weaker Sections category, whereas for the Scheduled Tribes category seemingly nil posts are placed in the recruitment process.
Mr. Halder has also mentioned that the reservation for ST Candidates for Andaman & Nicobar Administration recruitment are set to be at 7.5% despite they were not allowed to apply for this position. It indicates discriminatory exclusion of ST candidates against the principles of equality, social justice, and inclusivity that are essential in any fair recruitment process.
He has further requested the Education Department to reconsider this decision and make necessary amendments to the notification, ensuring that ST candidates are provided equal opportunity to apply for the post of Graduate Trained Teacher.
