
Port Blair, August 02: In a heartwarming initiative towards promoting inclusivity and celebrating the spirit of children with special needs, Pankh Andaman NGO, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department of A&N Administration, organized a grand event called “Run For Fun.” The event featured a short marathon specially designed for special children and their mothers.
The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation, with open registrations for children of all abilities. The run spanned from Dharamshala junction to Marina Park junction, encompassing four categories – special children below 10 years, special children between 10 and 18 years, mothers of the special children, and able children.
The event received the gracious presence of esteemed personalities, including Shri Nitin Shakya (IAS), the Director of the Social Welfare Department, who also flagged off the marathon. Padmashri Naresh Chandra Lal, Ambassador of Swachh Bharat, and Swami Sudhanand Ji from Chinmaya Mission,Social Welfare officer SmtiReeta Devi, Probation officer Shri AK.Biswas, founder president Smti Komal Anand with Secretary Smti Geeta Naveen Bhatt along with the memberswere also present, adding to the significance of the occasion.
The marathon saw a total of 45 special participants and 40 able children, all running together with great enthusiasm and camaraderie. The event aimed to break barriers and foster a sense of togetherness among children, irrespective of their abilities.
The program’s seamless arrangements were supported by SmtiNaziya TM, Leader of Light and Sound, along with the valuable contributions of Dr.Vineeta Malik and Dr. Sneha Singh. The event concluded on a joyous note with the distribution of cash prizes, certificates, medals, awards, and other thoughtful gifts to the participants.
