Port Blair, Jan 09: The Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has released an amount of Rs. 3.52 crore (Rupees three crore fifty two lakhs only) out of UT’s share to NRHM (National Rural Health Mission) for recurring and incurring expenditure under the Mission.
The amount is to be spent on implementation of various activities under RCH (both urban and tribal) and NRHM’s programme. These included Maternal Health, Child Health including immunization, Family Planning, Human Resources, Annual Grants to District Hospitals/CHCs/PHCs, up-gradation of Health Centres etc.
The activities under NRHM, on which the amount is to be spent included National Blindness Control Programme (NBCP), National TB Control Programme, Iodone Deficiency Control Programme and Malaria Control Programme etc. Other activities for which expenditure to be met out of the funds included training, programme management, ASHA, vulnerable group, annual maintenance grants, new construction/renovation and setting up, mainstreaming of AYUSH, planning, implementation and monitoring, procurement etc.
