
Port Blair, July 24: For the first time in the history of Car Nicobar Island, the District Administration, Car Nicobar organized an event with the theme “Zilla Prasasan Aapke Dwar” at Big Lapathy Community Hall on 24th July, 2023. The Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District Mr. Hari Kallikkat, IAS chaired the event along with Mr. Piyush Vijaykaran Singh, Assistant Commissioner (HQ) and Chairman Tribal Council, Mr. Lionalt Nicomet.
The event was organized with the aim to bring the Government services and assistance directly to the people, eliminating barriers and ensuring efficient delivery at their doorsteps. The event served as a platform for citizens of the Island to engage with various Government Departments, discuss their concerns, and receive on-the-spot solutions. This is the first ever programme of such kind in the Nicobar District taken by the District Administration with the aim to serve the local public of the far flung villages of Car Nicobar Island by bringing services of all line departments under a single umbrella.
The event was attended by the officials of various line departments such as Civil Supply, CDPO, Fisheries, Industries, Health, Transport, Electricity, Livestock, Education and various banks. The event was also witnessed by local people who gathered in large numbers in the community hall.
The Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District Mr. Hari Kallikkat, IAS addressed the gathering and assured that the District Administration is committed to overall development of this island and urged the people to feel free to reach out DC office for redressal of their grievances. The Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District also made announcement regarding implementation of online services at Car Nicobar Tehsil in par with other Districts of A&N Islands. Mr. Hari Kallikkat, IAS further informed the general public about the Public Grievances Cell which will be soon made functional in the premises of District Office. The local public either personally or through phone call can lodge complaint or file their grievances round the clock i.e 24X7 at this cell. The Deputy Commissioner also announced regarding the commencement of in-house Aadhar enrollment to the old aged/ bedridden/ disabled citizens of this Island. Through this service, the old aged, bedridden and disabled citizens of this Island can get themselves enrolled to get Adhar Card in their house itself.
Apart from the above announcements, the applicants who applied for various services like income certificate & ST certificate were handed over the same during the event itself. Further, Fishing Licences, new ration card, F.D under “DULARI” Scheme and employment cards were also dispersed on the spot by the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District. Beside this, on the spot registration of Aadhar card, new employment card, opening of new bank account and conversion of ration card from APL to PHH were also carried out in the event at the venue itself. A micro ATM was also made functional by A&N State Co-Op erative Bank Ltd at the venue for the benefit of local public.
The event concluded with the Vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Piyush Vijaykaran Singh, Assistant Commissioner,(HQ) with the assurance to organize similar event in other villages as well as Islands of Nicobar District.
