Port Blair, July 19: In the recent development, the police received credible information concerning the involvement of a person in the illicit sale of country-made liquor at Tamil Basti, Neil Kendra.
Taking immediate action upon receiving the tip-off, a specialized team was swiftly assembled under the leadership of SI Anik Das, SHO PS Shaheed Dweep accompanied by ASI B Simhadri, PC/Abdul Wahab, PC/Shahid, PC/Anita Bara and HG(R)/Biplab Bairagi of Police Station Shaheed Dweep. During the raid, on 16/07/23, the team successfully apprehended a person namely Smti Dhanlaxmi (55)yrs, R/o- Tamil Basti, Neil Kendra and recovered approx. 138 kgs of illicit handia (Rice Beer) from her possession. Further, it came to notice that a huge quantity of illicit handia is concealed in her nearby closed rented room, which the police recovered successfully. A criminal case has been registered upon her and further investigation is in progress.
