Port Blair, July 16: In a letter addressed to the Lieutenant Governor, A & N Islands, The ANTCC President Shri. Rangalal Halder has highlighted the recent tragic incident that occurred on the 12th July 2023 at Schooline, Port Blair—the devastating fire incident that caused immense loss and suffering to four families in the area.
He said that the incident has resulted in a significant impact to their residential properties, loss of personal belongings and the aftermath of this incident has left the affected families in a state of distress and despair, struggling to rebuild their lives and overcome the emotional and financial burden placed upon them.
Mr. Halder has appreciated the prompt response from the local people, Fire brigades, and volunteers who worked tirelessly to control the fire and provide immediate assistance.
He mentioned that “Compensation could assist in addressing their daily needs, such as accommodation facilities, essential supplements, medical assistance, and all other necessary support required by the family members”.
Considering the light of this devastating incident, he has further requested for immediate support in initiating compensation for the fire victims of the area to recover and rebuild their lives, providing a glimmer of hope in this difficult time.
