Port Blair, July 5: A minor fire incident was reported from an electric pole in Prem Nagar at approximately 7:40 pm on July 5th, 2023. The incident caused alarm among nearby residents, who promptly informed the Electricity Office about the situation.
In a swift response, Mr. Rakesh Singh, Junior Engineer, along with the employees of the Site Office of the Prem Nagar Electricity Department and PBMC staff, quickly arrived at the scene. Fortunately, the flare disappeared as soon as the power line was cut off by the Electricity Department staff.
Preliminary information suggests that the fire was likely caused by a short circuit resulting from a leakage in the service line, possibly due to the rainfall. The exact cause of the leakage and subsequent short circuit is yet to be determined.
The prompt action taken by the Electricity Department and PBMC staff helped prevent the situation from escalating further. They ensured the safety of the residents and effectively addressed the fire incident.
