
Port Blair, July 03: A team from the PBMC led by the Chairperson, Smti.S. Selvi ji, the Secretary, Shri. Dilkush Meena (IAS), and PBMC officers visited Phongy Chaung, Ward No. 6, at the invitation of the Councillor Ward No. 6, Mr. Azizur Rahman to inspect the area in relation to the laying of fire water hydrant pipelines throughout the Phongy Chaung area.
The area councillor for Ward No. 6 had put forth the idea of installation of fire water hydrant pipelines, as the area is densely populated with an approximate population of 2500 people, i.e., 470 families. As a safety measure for the residents’ lives and property, it is being laid to enable quick access to water in the event that a fire breaks out as well as to be used in times of water shortage.
The approximate cost of this project is Rs. 15,10,000. The project has begun and will be completed quickly.
