Port Blair, July 03: Taking an unique initiative Van Mahotsav celebration in Middle Andaman Forest Division was organized with Senior Citizens, wherein Division had inaugural function & mass tree planting programme in the campus of the Jawahar Navadaya Vidyalaya, Panchawati on 03.07.2023 with active participation of over 200 Students. In the programme 10 Eminent & respected elderly senior citizens from the local villagers were invited as the Chief Guest who also participated in the inaugural function as well as planted seedlings on the occasion. The students of
Jawahar Navadaya Vidyalaya. Panchawati along with their teachers with great Zeal & enthusiasm participated in the program as well as planted seedlings on the occasion & presented a skit along with a mime highlighting the importance of celebrating Van Mahotsav. The local Head of Office. Officials of various other department & PRI members also participated in the event & planted seedlings on the occasion.
The gathering was briefed upon by Dr. Abdul Qayum, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Middle Andaman & Mrs. Jolly Vincent, Principal, Jawahar Navadaya Vidyalaya, Panchawati wherein they highlighted the importance of nature and how to conserve nature and its natural resource. Among the chief guests present, Mr. Karthick Chandra Nag also shared his views and experience with the students and also enlightened them in the matter.
Earlier in the program the welcome address was delivered by Mr. Anil Saha, ACF (MA) after which l O Chief Guests were felicitated by Dr. Abdul Qayum IFS. Divisional Forest Officer. Middle Andaman Division by presenting them with shawl and mementos. The vote of thanks •was presented by Mr. Jaison John, Forest Ranger and the event was compelled by Mrs. Monideepa Bane1jee, Forest Ranger.
