Port Blair, Jan 07:The First Lady of these Islands, Smt Bhawanee Singh today inaugurated a two-day flower, vegetable and fruits show at the Organic Horticulture Farm, Sippighat, organised by the Agriculture department as part of the ongoing Islands Tourism Festival (ITF)-2013. The First Lady lit the ceremonial oil lamp to inaugurate the show.
An array of different variety of locally grown vegetables and fruits collected from about 276 farmers of different parts of the islands are put on display at the show. Besides different variety of flowers comprising of cut flower, dry flower and Rangoli are on display at the show. About eight Self Help Groups (SHGs) have also put up their food stalls at the venue. The show is expected to draw large crowd as both local as well as visiting tourists are evincing keen interest to know about the locally produced agriculture products.
Among others, the Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad (SA), Smt Abala Sammadar, Chairperson, SSWB, Smt Ratna Kannan and senior officers of the administration were present on the occasion.
