Billiground, July 02: Yesterday, the Billiground region witnessed heavy rainfall, leading to flash flood in Duke Nagar, low-lying areas of Shantipur, Pinakinagar, and a portion of Harinagar villages. Many houses in the low-lying areas reportedly suffered moderate damages.
In Duke Nagar village alone, approximately 10 residential houses were inundated with flood-waters. The Police Station Billiground received information about the flash flood in Duke Nagar village around 9:00 PM last night. Upon receiving the distress call, SHO Deepak Kumar Xaxa and his dedicated police team swiftly responded. Along with the Police team, the Billiground Fire Brigade team also joined the rescue efforts.
Despite facing immense challenges, the police and fire brigade teams successfully rescued nearly 40 individuals from 10 families in Duke Nagar village to safe areas. After completing the rescue operations in Duke Nagar, the police team continued patrolling the low-lying areas throughout the night, intensifying their rescue efforts. General public of the region appreciated the efforts of Police and Fire Brigade team in rescuing stranded families and maintaining law and order situation during such heavy rain. As per information by early morning water receded in most of the areas after which affected people went back to their respective homes.
