Port Blair, June 30: In his recent meet up with the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Keshav Chandra, Ajoy Bairagi, State President BJP A & N Islands discussed various issues pertaining to the Islands.
In the very first issue he demanded a Govt Job on Compassionate ground for Mr. Ranjit Kirtania a resident of Talbagan Diglipur, whose Son died in an unfortunate accident that took place in Diglipur when a tree fell down due to heavy cyclonic winds.
Later on he discussed the series of issues which are unattended from a very long time in Little Andaman, like proper scheduled sailing of vessels to and fro from Little Andaman, Irregular supply of Gas Cylinders which is causing a lot of trouble for local residents and also the health sector as non availability of Gynaecologist is a very big concern as general public is facing a lot of trouble.
He further requested for reintroducing a bus service from Diglipur to Mayabunder at 2:30 pm which was available post covid and was a lifeline for students to reach home after school hours, especially for girls as due to non availability of bus they reach home at late hours.
Lastly and most important issue he took up was to expedite and conclude the resettlement of Katchal Sri Lankan Tamil Settlers by formulating a package of agricultural land as decided in the IDA meeting in 2003. As this issue of resettlement is pending for a very long time and needs immediate intervention.
Mr. Ajoy Bariagi was accompanied by Mrs. Aporna Roy, Zilla Parishad Member and Mr. Lawrence, one of the members of Sri Lankan Tamil Settler during this meeting.
