Port Blair, June 21: In a devastating incident that unfolded on Tuesday, June 20, a massive fire engulfed a house located in Machi Basthi Junglighat. Local residents promptly alerted the Fire Control Room around 07:20 pm, leading to the swift dispatch of three fire tenders to the scene.
Efficiently coordinating their efforts, the fire department deployed fire tenders, including a Water Bowser from the Fire Station Headquarters and Marine, to combat the raging fire. Remarkably, within just half an hour, the firefighters successfully brought the flames under control, preventing further destruction. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
As per details, two temporary tin sheet rooms on the first floor of the house fell victim to the blaze. However, thanks to the valiant efforts of the firefighters, with the invaluable support of the police, the ground floor of the house was salvaged from the clutches of the fire.
Initial estimates indicate that approximately two lakhs worth of materials were lost in the fire. Authorities suspect that the fire may have been triggered by an old electrical wire line in the house, potentially causing a short circuit.
