Port Blair, June 21: Over the past week, residents of RGT Road, Shadipur, and neighboring areas have endured a series of prolonged power outages, leaving them perplexed and helpless. Alongside the frequent power cuts, they have also grappled with low voltage issues, causing significant inconvenience to the people.
Expressing their frustration, a resident of RGT Road stated that the people residing in RGT Road, Machi Line, South Point, and the adjoining areas have been experiencing multiple power cuts from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for the past week. Additionally, residents have also witnessed fluctuations in power supply and voltage, exacerbating the situation. The persistent power failures have created immense difficulties for the residents, particularly the elderly and young children, whose health and daily routines have been severely affected.
Children who come from different corners of Port Blair city to RGT Road School Daily for all kinds of summer classes also face deep inconvenience.
Upon contacting a senior officer from the Electricity Department regarding the power outages in RGT Road and Shadipur area, it was revealed that the root cause of the issue was a technical problem with the R2 feeder. The feeder experienced a power break, necessitating the intervention of the department’s team to rectify the situation. The officer assured that once the feeder is restored and charged, the power supply will be promptly resumed. The matter has already been escalated to higher authorities for their attention and resolution.
