Kishori Nagar, June 08: In a heart-wrenching incident today, a Gulmohar (Royal poinciana)
tree, uprooted by strong winds, toppled onto a passenger pickup van, leading to the untimely demise of eight-year-old Master Deep Kirtonia. The unfortunate incident occurred at approximately 11:45 AM in Kishori Nagar area of North Andaman.
Alongside the tragic loss of young Master Deep Kirtonia, the incident caused severe injuries to his father, Mr. Ranjeet Kirtonia, while six other individuals sustained minor injuries. Mr. Ranjeet Kirtonia is currently undergoing medical treatment at CHC Diglipur, where his condition is reported to be serious. The Van was going towards Tal Bagar area of North Andaman from Diglipur area and had halted at Kishori Nagar to drop passengers.
According to eyewitnesses, the passenger pickup van was carrying a total of ten people, including the driver, at the time of the incident. Fortunately, four individuals with minor injuries were promptly provided with first aid and subsequently released. However, Mr. Ranjeet Kirtonia, due to the severity of his injuries, will be evacuated to Port Blair for further medical attention tomorrow, as per reliable sources.
