Port Blair, May 28: Over 100 Researchers, Students including faculty members from NIT, Jamshedpur visited Botanical Survey of India under the leadership of HOD, Dr. Shashi Bhushan Prasad, along with faculty members from DBRIT, Port Blair as a part of Yuva Sangam (under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat). During their visit Regional Head & Joint Director, Dr. Lal Singh welcomed and briefed about the activities and achievements of BSI in the Islands. Dr. Singh also delivered a lecture on “Unique Floristic diversity of Islands’ ‘. They visited various sections like National Repository: Herbarium (PBL), Museum etc and curiously discussed about unique plant diversity such as green flower and orange pulpy fruit bearing banana species, wild gingibers, orchids and reusable eco-friendly drinking straw invented by BSI dinosaur age tree species of Islands etc. and commitment to eco-friendly lifestyle under Mission Life.
