
Port Blair, May 28: The Department of Fisheries, Andaman and Nicobar Administration with the support of Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and in association with National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad will be organizing a function for the launch of Sixth Phase of ‘Sagar Parikrama’ by Shri Parshottam Rupala, Hon’ble Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in Andaman and Nicobar Islands at Fish Landing Centre, Panighat on 29th May, 2023.
The aim of the Sagar Parikrama is to reach out to the primary stakeholders of the fisheries sector to know their issues and experiences at the ground level and also to disseminate the information of various ongoing Government schemes and programmes for their benefits.
Hon’ble Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying will undertake and launch the Sixth Phase of Sagar Parikrama Yatra from Phoenix Bay Jetty to Fish Landing Centre, Panighat and will be interacting with the fishermen, fish sellers and fish farmers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders.
During the function at Fish Landing Centre, Panighat, the Hon’ble Union Minister will interact with progressive fishermen and entrepreneurs who have availed subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), distribute KCC cards to fishers and hand over the selection orders to the newly selected PMMSY beneficiaries.
The Hon’ble Union Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Fish Landing Centre at V.K.Pur, Little Andaman in virtual mode during the programme.
