Port Blair, May 25: On 22nd & 23rd May 2023, The Composite Regional Centre- A&N Islands, under the Administrative Control of NIEPMD Chennai, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment in collaboration with Directorate of Social Welfare has organized Orientation-Cum-Capacity Building Training Programme on Disability for the Anganwadi Workers in Diglipur & Rangat ICDS project of North & Middle Andaman.
The AWWs has been given awareness on different topics like Introduction of CRC and NIEPMD, RPWD ACT 2016 -Types of Disabilities and conditions, Function of CRC A&N-Islands, Niramaya Health Insurance, ADIP, UDID and Kiran Mental Health Programme for PwDs and Role and Responsibility of Anganwadi Workers. Altogether 266 AWWs were trained during this training programme.
Mrs. Laxmi, Zilla Pradhan, Mrs. Umadevi, CDPO of Rangat & Mrs. Indira Devi, CDPO of Diglipur Inaugurated and Honored the programme and the Supervisors of ICDS projects also participated. Mrs. Sumithamol. S, Assistant Professor, Special Education, Resident Nodal Officer at CRC A&N Islands has welcomed the gathering of AWWs and educated the AWWs about the CRC, NIEPMD and the function of CRC A&N-Islands.
Mr. Himadri Sekhar, Prosthetics & Orthotics Consultant, Mrs. Kokila, Vocational Instructor cum Special Educator from CRC- A&N Islands also trained the AWWs on varied topics for these two days.
Successfully, the programme achieved the main objective of developing the knowledge and information for AWWs regarding disable and disabilities and its different aspects. CRC A&N-Islands altogether covered 561 AWWs under Urban ICDS & Ferrargunj ICDS project of South Andaman, Diglipur & Rangat ICDS project of North & Middle Andaman.
