Port Blair, Jan 02: The Member of Parliament of A & N Islands and Parents of a girl, who had reportedly committed suicide last evening, today demanded Post Mortem of the body by Defence Doctors, suspecting a foul play.
The girl, Madhuri (name changed) student of Class XI, studying in Boy’s School, had reportedly committed suicide yesterday afternoon by hanging herself with a ceiling fan.
Parents of the girl, however expressed doubt that the girl was murdered by a boy, living next door, who used to harass the girl regularly. A police complaint against the boy was also launched last year by the parents of girl.
“The parents expressed doubt that as the boy belongs to a politician’s family, he could influence the post mortem report. Hence they wanted Post Mortem by defence doctor and there is nothing wrong in it. However, when I intervened, I have been assured by the officials of Directorate of Health Services that the Post Mortem will be carried out without any political influence and proper video recording of the Post Mortem will also be carried out,” the MP told.
According to reports, later the MP and the parents agreed to this and the Post Mortem was carried out today. However, Port Mortem report is still awaited. Police is conducting further inquiry in this regard, it is learnt.
