Port Blair, May 18: On 18th May 2023, CRC, A&N-Islands conducted An awareness programme on Global Accessibility Awareness Day in association with the Department of CSE, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Institute Of Technology. Keeping technology accessible for everyone is the key theme of this day, and in an era when technology just keeps getting more and more a part of lives, it’s never been more important. GAAD draws attention to the need to make sure digital assets, including websites, video, audio, and social media, are accessible to everyone, including people with limited vision, hearing, or mobility.
Mrs. Sumithmol, Resident Nodal Officer, CRC, A&N-Islands welcomed the gathering followed by Mrs. Saranyah, Rehabilitation Officer addressed the gathering. Mr. Abid, Lecture in Physiotherapy and Mr. Himadri Sekhar Debsharma, Prosthetics & Orthotics Consultant presented a session on Awareness about GAAD. Mr. Balaji & team has presented their project named Voice Eyes Gaze for Disabled Person, software which is accessible for Disabled population. Dr. Asma, HOD, Department of CSE, DBRAIT, Mr. Niyogi, Executive Officer, Sovtech Solutions and students of CSE department were the participants of the programme.
Finally, the programme winded up with a Vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of the students of CSE, DBRAIT has been provided with a participation certificate for their project on accessible technology for inclusive society.
