Port Blair, May 12: CRC-Andaman Nicobar Islands is functioning as help desk for implementing Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme for Divyangjan in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. ‘Niramaya’ scheme is to provide affordable Health Insurance to persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation (ID) & Multiple Disabilities. The scheme is running by the National Trust, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, New Delhi.
The Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme has a single premium across age band and insurance cover up to Rs.1.0 lakh (per year) on reimbursement basis only. The services covering under the insurance scheme ranging from Medical Check up to Hospitalization, Therapy to Corrective surgeries, Transportation as per the benefit chart issued/revised by the National Trust which may be revised from time to time. This scheme demands no pre-insurance medical tests and treatment can be taken from any hospitals.
If, the person with disabilities (only Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation (ID) and Multiple disabilities) comes under BPL category the Enrolment fee is Rs.250 (one time per year), for APL category it is Rs.500 (one time per year). The required documents to enrol under Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme are as follow; Disability certificate, photo, income certificate (if APL) / BPL card.
