Port Blair, Apr 18: On April 16, two school-going girls, studying in class eight and class seventh, were found hanging from a tree, near their residence in Sigmen Dera village in Long Islands, Middle Andaman district. Both of the girls were close friends, who were studying in the same school.
The incident has raised many questions, especially since a similar incident was reported nearly three years ago in Long Islands, where two minor girls had attempted to commit suicide, with one surviving as the knot of her dupatta opened at the last moment.
Till now, no one knows the reason behind the latest suicide. Some people, who doesn’t want their name to be quoted are claiming that it is impossible for the girls to climb the tree and commit suicide and hence a thorough inquiry into the entire matter must be there.
“This is strange and I don’t know what to say. There is no reason for girls to commit suicide as they were playing in day time,” Mr. Kamraj, the Pradhan of Long Island told Andaman Sheekha today.
Meanwhile, the police station of PS Rangat has registered an unnatural death case, and a police team is investigating the matter.
