Port Blair, Apr 03: The 36th convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held today at Lecture Gallery, Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Port Blair. The main function was held at IGNOU, HQs at 11.00 AM. The President of India, Mrs. Droupadi Murmu was the Chief Guest and Minister of Education, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan was the Guest. At Port Blair Regional Centre, the Guest of was Mr. Neeraj Thakur, IPS, DGP, A&N Islands. In his speech the Guest highlighted the importance of the Convocation and also highlighted the online education. Further he also appreciated the efforts of the students who have secured degrees for 36th convocation. The Guest congratulated all the passed out graduates and wished them luck for the future. All together 60 candidates have received degrees from the Guest. Earlier during the welcome address, the Regional Director Dr.RVR Murthy briefed the gathering about the achievements of IGNOU Regional center Port Blair in the last one year and also proposed the future plan for expanding the IGNOU academic activities in Andaman & Nicobar Islands .The program was attended by the invited guest, officials from A & N Police and academic staff from various Institutions and parents. Dr. J. Gowtham, Assistant Coordinator of IGNOU Study Centre, JNRM has proposed a vote of thanks. A communication from the Regional Director, IGNOU, Regional Centre, Port Blair said.
