Port Blair, Mar 23: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary to add some short-term certificate courses in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Member of Parliament has stressed on inclusion of courses related to water sports such as Personal Jetski Water Craft, Power Boat Handler, and Snorkeling.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary the Member of Parliament has pointed out that the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a popular tourist destination known for their beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters.
He added that the inclusion of short-term certificate courses related to water sports would not only enhance the tourism experience for visitors but also provide employment opportunities for the locals.
“Personal Jetski Water Craft and Power Boat Handler courses would enable individuals to operate watercraft safely and efficiently. These skills are essential for individuals looking to work in the tourism industry as watersports instructors or guides,” he added.
The Member of Parliament mentioned that snorkelling courses would enable individuals to explore the underwater world safely and responsibly. These skills are essential for individuals looking to work in the tourism industry as snorkelling guides or instructors.
He said that addition of these courses would be beneficial for both the tourism industry and the local community in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and hence he requested the Chief Secretary to include these courses in the PMKVY program.
