Port Blair, Feb 19: Secretary, Department of Education Conferred the National and RegionalWinner 2022-23 Awards to the Teams of Children from Andaman and Nicobar.
Earthian-Sustainability Education in Schools through project based learningis an initiative of Wipro Foundation; Bengaluru was collaboratively carriedout by CPR Environmental Education Centre.
The program involves project submissions by the students of the Islands onthe themes of Biodiversity, Water and Waste Management. This year, theproject submissions made by the two teams of students from GovernmentSenior Secondary School, Kadamtala and Kamaraj English Medium SeniorSecondary School, Port Blair, have won the National Earthian Winner Awards2022-23. the award carries citation, certificates to the team members andcash incentive to the school (Rs.50,000) to be handed over by the WiproFoundation.
In addition to the National awards, Government Senior Secondary School,Diglipur, and a team from Government Senior Secondary School, Kadamtala,have been shortlisted at the national level. As a part of encouraginginnovative project based learning, CPREEC has identified 15 projectsubmissions at the Union Territory level for Regional Recognition Awards.The schools are Kamaraj English Medium School, Ummat Public School, CarmelSr. Secondary School, Nirmala Sr. SecondarySchool, Navy Children School, Govt. Sr. Secondary School Subhasgram, Govt.Secondary School Madhupur, and Govt. Secondary School Gandhi Nagar. Boththe shortlists at national and regional levels are awarded certificates forteam members and memento for the school.
To honor the project submissions of the National winners and RegionalWinners of 2022-23, National & Regional Recognition Award ceremony was heldon 17 February 2023 at 10.30 am at the Auditorium of Tagore Govt. Collegeof Education, Middle Point. On the occasion, Mrs. Veditha Reddy IAS,Secretary, Department of Education gave away the awards to the winners,whose inspirational speech captivated the attention of the gathering.
Mr. Aditya Kumar Jha DANICS, Director, Department of Education was theGuest of Honor during the award ceremony. Mrs. ArathiHanumanthappa,Program Manager, Wipro Foundation, Bengaluru Wipro earthian elaborated onthe National & Regional Recognition Awards of the earthian program. Earlier,
