Port Blair Feb 14: On 14th February 2023, Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) in collaboration with GIZ- India conducted beach cleanliness drive with the help of Andaman Helping Hands, A&N Islands (AHHANI), Allu Arjun Army Andaman (AAAA) & PBMC Officials and Staff at Marina Park, Port Blair. During this drive, all volunteers participated with a futuristic thought and total 10 bags (95 Kg) of garbage were collected during Beach Clean-up activity at Marina Park which consisted of plastic waste, MLPs and all type of mixed garbage like plastics materials, Alcoholic bottles, Juice bottles, Water bottles, Gutka wrappers etc.
Mr. B. S. Jaglan, Secretary, PBMC addressed the participants and said that ocean sustainability is only the path of global prosperity. Cleanliness is the responsibility of every citizen of Port Blair & to make this city clean, everybody should come forward to support in waste management activities and along with this, he also appealed to the citizens of Port Blair to ensure waste segregation at source form Household level.
Mr. Ashish Joon, Joint Secretary, PBMC informed that next cleanliness drive will be conducted in Junglighat area for community participation and beautification of the area.
Mr.Avinash Kumar Singh, Superintending Engineer, PBMC has given their gratitude to all supportive organizations and volunteers for their participation and support.
