Port Blair, Jan 30: In an effort to provide better access to petroleum products in outlying areas, the Andaman Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Ltd. (ANIIDCO) has recently opened two petrol pumps, one in Baratang and another in Kadamtala. The pumps have greatly benefited residents and commuters passing through the area.
The former Up-Adhyaksh of North and Middle Andaman, Mr. R. Alagersamy, has written a letter to the General Manager of ANIIDCO Ltd. requesting that the operating hours of the petrol pumps be revised. The current hours of operation, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, do not accommodate the needs of the tour operators and speed boat operators, who must refill their petrol before the arrival of guests.
Mr. Alagersamy suggested that the operating hours be revised to 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM in order to better serve the public and the tour operators. He cited the current timing as a major inconvenience, causing delays and wasting time for tourists and locals alike.
