Port Blair, Jan 25: A large number of young people who came to submit their applications for the 11 Mazdoor posts in the forest department faced significant difficulties due to the long waiting times in queues. The job notification for the positions was published in a local newspaper on January 4th and 5th, 2023.
Since the beginning of January, many youth have been visiting the forest department’s planning section in Haddo to submit their applications. However, due to the limited number of counters available, many have been forced to wait for hours in long queues. As January 31st is the last date of submitting application there is a huge rush of youths.
According to some of the youth who spoke to Andaman Sheekha Daily, the long wait times in the sun have caused them significant hardship. They have called on the department to increase the number of counters available for application submission and extend the application deadline by an additional two weeks.
When contacted a senior officerfrom the forest departmentacknowledged the difficulties faced by the youth and the lack of space in their office. He told Andaman Sheekha Daily that due to the large number of candidates, they currently have one counter for checking applications and another for submitting them. They further added that they will bring the matter of extending the application deadline to the attention of their senior officers.
