Port Blair, Jan 20: A residential house was completely gutted in a fire that broke out in the house of Malai Bijan, Haddo village this afternoon.
As per details, the semi RCC residential house was made up of tin sheets and it had wooden walls, which caught fire at around 01.00 pm.
Sources said that the local people of the area saw thick smoke coming out from the house, following which people informed the fire Services about the incident.
Initially, the residents of the nearby area tried their best to control the fire. Later the fire control room was called and the information regarding the fire incident was given 01:10 PM.
As soon as the information was delivered, within a few minutes the firefighting team of Chatham and Marine Fire Station reached the spot and controlled the fire by 01:50 PM.
By the time they reached, the house was completely gutted but because of the swift action of the A & N Fire Service the fire could be tamed well before any major disaster as the area is thickly populated.
As per the information, no one was injured in the incident and approximately five lakh rupee worth of household materials were burnt by the fire.
