Port Blair, Dec 11: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep RaiSharma has requested the Lt. Governor of Andaman and NicobarIslands to sanction a Multi-Purpose Hall for Baratang region under theKhelo India.
The Member of Parliament informed the Lt. Governor that theBaratang Island of Middle Andaman is always known for producing manytalented Sports persons for National and International Level in the fieldRowing, Kayaking, Hockey, Football etc.
He added that Children and youths of the area face many hurdles to trainthemselves in the field of many sports and often bring medals and trophiesat the State Level. Although there are a few grounds available for the childrenand youths of Baratang region, people of the region now has been demandingfor construction of a Multi-Purpose Hall for Baratang region, wherechildren and youths of the region can carry out practice for various indoorgames and get themselves trained professionally, in all weather conditions,he mentioned.
The Member of Parliament pointed out that it rains almost half of the yearin Andaman and Nicobar Islands and many times the children and youths aredeprived from playing games in the open.
He mentioned that a Multi-Purpose Hall will also be beneficial fororganizing regional and state level competition, in which children andyouths of the region will certainly get better exposure.
