Port Blair, Nov 13: Andaman & Nicobar State Open Chess Selection Championship 2022 which is being rganized by Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) has begun today the 12th November 2022 at JNRM College Auditorium Port Blair.
Mr.Vishwendra, Secretary-cum-Director (Transport) was the chief guest of the opening ceremony who made the ceremonial first move on the top board to kick starts the event in presence of S Netazi, Observer, deputed from Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Port Blair. Mr. G Bhasker, Patron ANCA, graced the occasion as the guest of honor who lauded the efforts of ANCA in promoting the game of chess in A & N Islands.
Earlier Mr. Tanveer Singh Vice president ANCA, while welcoming the gathering, highlighted the recent achievements and vision of ANCA.
Around 170 players are participating enthusiastically in the two-day state level chess Championship which will be held over 9 rounds in Swiss format for two days.
The Championship will serve as a selection tournament for the upcoming MPL 59th Senior National Chess Championship–2022 scheduled to be held from 22nd December 2022 to 3rd January 2023 at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Near ITO, New Delhi.
The best four players will be selected for the MPL 59th Senior National Chess Championship–2022.
